I don’t really feel it will engage freshmen, so no.
* “Does this book encourage thought and discussion in a variety of courses and contexts?”
Yes
* “Does this book value diverse cultural perspectives?”
Yes
* “Does this book address contemporary social issues?”
Yes
PRO: readable prose
CON: topics are esoteric and I am guessing freshmen will not widely relate to them. Vignettes all relate to medicine, but I did not see enough of a common thread to make them satisfying taken as a whole. I lost interest about 1/3 of the way through.
